Are you considering studying or are you ready for the job market?
During Study or Work -days, you can contemplate and plan your path towards the working life of Finland.
Study or Work -days are organized in Finnish and English.
During Study or Work -days, you will receive general information on topics such as:
- How could you utilize your previous skills and abilities in the Finnish job market?
- How do you apply for jobs in Finland?
- How do you apply for studies?
- Regarding your proficiency in the Finnish language and how you can study Finnish.
- Which jobs might be suitable for your situation, skills and experience.
Study or Work -days are free of charge and last for 3 days (from Monday to Wednesday). Participation does not affect unemployment benefits. During this period, you can fulfill your job search obligations with support. Study or Work -days last for approximately 6 hours per day. During the lunch break you can eat your own packed lunch or have lunch at nearby restaurants.
After Study or Work -days, you have the opportunity to receive support for job searching. Please contact IHT’s customer guidance services. If you are interested in further education, you can receive assistance with applying for education from a study counselor.
You will be individually invited to Study or Work -days once there are 5 people in the group.
You can also register for the Study or work -days through the International House Turku Welcome Desk or through an Advisor.
Autumn 2023 Study or work -days programme
Study or work -days start dates are: 25.9.2023 (Study or work -days in english), 2.10.2023, 9.10.2023, 23.10.2023 (Study or work -days in english), 30.10.2023, 6.11.2023, 13.11.2023, 20.11.2023 (Study or work -days in english), 27.11.2023, 11.12.2023, 18.12.2023.
Monday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Mapping Skills, Strengths, and Development Areas.
The goal is to provide support in assessing your own skills and areas for improvement in relation to the requirements of the Finnish job market.
Monday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Finnish Language Test.
(Not organized during the English-language Study or Work Days) We will assess your proficiency in the Finnish language, including your comprehension of Finnish text and speech, as well as your ability to write and speak in Finnish. You will receive guidance on what areas you should further study and how you can improve your Finnish skills. You will also receive an evaluation of your language proficiency and skill level in different aspects of the language.
Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM: Digital Day.
On Digi-Tuesday:
a) Assessing basic digital skills.
b) Practice session using digital programs necessary for everyday- and working life in Finland.
Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Job Search.
You will receive information about employment services in Turku and guidance on using Työmarkkinatori (the job market portal). We will discuss where in Finland you could find suitable job opportunities, how to apply for jobs, and where to seek assistance in the job application process.
Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Summary Day.
We will have a discussion about the topics covered during this period and provide support for you to make decisions about your next steps. For example, we will consider whether pursuing further education or job searching would be a better fit for you at this stage and where to find various support services.
